BUDGET BOMBSHELL ~ Governor boosts deficit forecast to $20 billion as he bids to change State's spending system

Sacramento, CA

Article by: Matthew Yi, San Francisco Chronicle, April 30, 2008
Sacramento Bureau

Excerpt;

"In a startling revelation, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said this week that the state's budget deficit could grow to as much as $20 billion as he prepared to unveil a revised spending plan for the coming year that is likely to include deep cuts in education, health services and prisons.

The new deficit figure - 30 percent higher than the latest estimates by lawmakers - reflects a deepening fiscal crisis that has polarized the budget debate in the Legislature as Republicans vow to fight tax increases and Democrats say they won't settle for cuts alone..."

Rev. Dr. Ralph Pacheco invited to the National Day of Prayer

Whittier, CA

Dear Friends and Colleagues:

I am honored and delighted to be invited to join a list of distinguished Ministers & Pastors who have been selected to lead prayer at the "National Day of Prayer" at Whittier City Hall today at 5:00 P.M. this year.

I wish to express my deep appreciation to the Host Committee led by Dr. Jason Guerrero, Senior Pastor of Regency Christian Center International (Whittier,CA), and Assistant Pastor Eric Padilla. Dr. Guerrero has headed the delegation of Ministers in Whittier as the Coordinator of this annual prayer event for a number of years.

Each year it seems that the crowds grow larger. The time of the event this year has been moved from 12 Noon to 5:00 P.M. with the objective in mind that more people will be able to participate in this annual time of prayer after their work day.

As I always say, "Lord willing and the river don't rise," We should see a record turnout at the 2008 National Day of Prayer in Whittier, CA.

See you at Whittier City Hall... May the Lord richly Bless you!

National Day of Prayer ~ Whittier City Hall

Whittier, CA

National Day of Prayer
Whittier City Hall
On a day like this, one should reflect on the Blessings God has provided this great nation. This is the day where much of America sets aside their daily routine to give thanksgiving and praise to an Almighty God for their Freedom and Liberty to worship God as we see fit... To the Freedom of Speech... To the Freedom to Assemble... To the Freedom of the Press... Just a few of the revolutionary Freedoms we enjoy as citizens in this land. We should never fail to give God the honor, glory, and praise He deserves for the United States of America.
May we take time to give thanks to the Lord on this special National Day of Prayer...
